happy weekend!

i will be honest and say that i am a little sad that our 6 year family tradition of going to newport beach for a week will be missed. instead the parents decided to go back to our old traditional destination Big Bear Lake. i know the 35 of us will have just as much fun, but there's something to be said about only having to pack a small bag with swimwear, flip-flops, and tanks, laying on the beach enjoying a good read, and riding bikes forever with the wind against your sun kissed face!

im sorry i haven't posted here in awhile. i get so busy working and posting my other blog that i tend to forget this one!

so im excited for summer to be here because i love summer photography! there are so many more colors, scenes, and people to photograph! summer just brings joy to everything!

this place is pretty much exactly what i want my future company to look like! i have been conjuring up all my ideas of how i will put together my future shop for kids, finishing the details in my head, and getting ready to put it all down on paper! i ran into this site today and just about fell off my chair! Camilla & Camilla from LuckyBoySunday have created a whimsical, fairytale, dreamlike, contemporary like state in their products. The feel for the collection is so playful but sophisticated. I wish i never saw this because now some will think i am a "copier" but i will say that my future line will be a tad different!

if you need any help with fun valentines for your kids then turn to none other than Martha! These look oh so fun to do, too bad I don't have kids yet!

Valentine's Day Sign Card
Create this card by making signs out of construction paper, doilies, and adhesive letters from an office-supply store. Photograph your child holding the signs, then tape the pictures to construction paper and fold the card accordion-style.



Hand-Shaped Valentines
Send a touching message with valentines traced from little hands.



Patterned Paper Wrap
Store- bought treats are more special when covered in pretty patterned paper. Pen a note on the underside or on a tag attached with waxed twine. Tuck gum into a card stock "matchbook" stamped with a message; sticks of gum sold in large packs often have plain white wrappers that are perfect for decorating with stickers. A lollipop adorned with a sticker and taped to a card stock heart will also be welcome, as would button candy slipped into a small paper bag embellished with die-cut scrap art (available at crafts stores).



Heart-and-Lollipop Flowers
With just a little TLC, colorful hearts flourish as the petals of a new flower variety -- one with a lollipop center and stem.



Folding Hearts Valentines
Friends will be aflutter over envelopes that turn into valentines. Cut a fat heart from paper that has a white side and a patterned side -- wrapping paper works well.



Bonbon-Filled Hearts
Surprise a loved one by hanging a heart-shaped container filled with candy on his doorknob or near his computer.

have you heard of small magazine? its pretty cool, it looks to me like it is a web magazine only, you can go to their page here! i especially enjoyed this shoot from the autumn 2009 issue called "Machine Shop!" i really love all the sets and props that were used so perfectly in the shots, and no doubt the kids are adorable!
